Hi! I’m Suki. My real name is Somar and my Thai name is Baitong, but I also respond to “free food.”

I’m a Florida-based scriptwriter, copywriter, comedian, and teaching artist. I’m happiest when I’m bridging storytelling and brand strategy: turning complex ideas into content people actually stick around to watch, read, and remember.

I specialize in video content and scriptwriting—writing for YouTube creators, social media, branded video, TV/digital ads, and unscripted TV. Homegirl’s also got 8+ years of omni-channel copywriting, creative direction, and brand voice development across e-commerce, tech, pet health, beverage, retail, and wellness.

I use Artificial Intelligence to assist with creative workflows. But they’ll have to pry the em-dash from my cold, beautifully manicured hands. (Ask to see my nails—there’s always something wild going on!)

I teach screenwriting at the University of Miami and sketch comedy writing at Speak Easy Theater Company, Actors Repertory, Black Improv Alliance, Villain Theater, and various other theatre training programs across South Florida. In 2017 I partnered with Exchange for Change to teach sketch writing at Homestead Correctional Institution which was my favorite teaching experience to date. 

I perform improv, stand-up, and sketch comedy at Speak Easy Theater Company. I harbor a deep affinity for experimental comedy which is influenced by my love of the Neo-Futurists in Chicago.

It also explains my tendency to do things like set up a “Free Unsolicited Advice” booth at an art festival. You’d be surprised at how many people actually want unsolicited advice.

I’m also a graduate of Second City Chicago and the Peoples Improv Theatre in NYC.

I am very professional: I received my B.A in Theatre Arts from Rollins College and an M.F.A in Motion Picture from the University of Miami. I used to keep miniature diplomas in my wallet until it was stolen. They left the mini diplomas behind.

In conclusion, here are pictures of my dogs Lillian Coppola Van Chicken Wing (hawt dog) and Bill Murray Panang Curry (burger dawg). The three of us made it to the front page of the Wall Street Journal.
